"In the heart of downtown Des Moines, where jazz once echoed through prohibition-era speakeasies and deals were sealed with a handshake, Revelry Room is reinventing the art of gathering," said Robert Ash, Vice President of Food & Beverage at StepStone Hospitality. "It's more than just a place to dine—it's a destination where history raises a glass and reinvents itself."
Revelry Room's vision is to create a truly unique and authentic experience—where guests indulge in elevated flavors, dynamic entertainment, and an inspired social setting that blends past and present. Its mission is rooted in fostering a sense of community, creativity, and exclusivity in a diverse and welcoming environment.
At the heart of Revelry Room are its core values: a deep devotion to authenticity, a communal and inclusive spirit, and a comforting, elevated atmosphere. The concept is intentionally positioned to combine the allure of a classic tavern with the vibrant energy of a modern hybrid restaurant—delivering bold tastes and magnetic vibes in one of Des Moines' most storied spaces.
Guests can expect:
- Crafted cocktails steeped in local spirit and storied technique
- Creative, indulgent cuisine featuring farm-fresh, locally sourced ingredients
- Lively entertainment in a warm, conversational setting that celebrates connection
"Revelry Room is a celebration of Des Moines—its history, its hospitality, and its evolving energy," said Nicholas Wymore, General Manager. "This concept brings a vibrant new heartbeat to the Renaissance, and we're thrilled to open the doors to locals and travelers alike."
The culinary experience is led by Executive Chef Nija Lightfoot, a culinary virtuoso with a passion for transforming local ingredients into bold, flavorful dishes. With a globally inspired palate and a devotion to sustainability, Chef Nija leads a kitchen that is as thoughtful as it is inventive. "Food is how I tell stories," says Lightfoot. "And at Revelry Room, every dish has something to say."
Overseeing the guest experience is General Manager Nicholas Wymore, a dynamic hospitality leader known for building strong community ties and delivering personalized, top-tier service. His vision for hospitality and storytelling makes him a natural steward of this concept.
Revelry Room officially opens on May 30, 2025. Whether stopping in for a signature cocktail, a shared plate, or a vibrant evening of music, every visit is designed to be a story worth sharing.
