Jay Sarkar has over 20 years of hospitality finance experience. He began his career with Tollman Hundley Hotels as a Property Controller based in the company’s corporate office in Valhalla, New York. He also spent four years with Starwood Hotels in New York City, where he had oversight for W branded hotels as well as the Sheraton New York. After his departure from Starwood, Jay spent 12 years with Pyramid Hotel Group. In his last position with Pyramid, he was the Regional Controller for multiple full-service hotels from Washington, DC to Los Angeles, CA. During his tenure with Pyramid, he also worked extensively on due diligence and the transition phase of new acquisitions. Prior to joining StepStone Hospitality, he was the CFO/Equity partner for Alena Hospitality, a start-up hotel management company headquartered in Orlando, Florida.
Jay earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix after earning his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Mercy College in White Plains, NY. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He is a board member and Treasurer of The Samaritans of Bristol County, a non-profit organization.
